Guess who is 50!!!!!!!!!

Since she always loves to post pictures of all the family in weird poses on our birthdays…I thought I would get some revenge! Who would have thought that before turning 50 our mother/sister/daughter/wife would have advanced degrees in medicine, table arrangement, kid rodeo, and social coordination! Along with raising 3 rambunctious boys and a prissy girl, our mother is still reasonably sane!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Mom!! We all love you and thank you for not killing us when we were little!!

Breeze

The dark clouds gather, as if to protest the pleasure of the warming rays and sparkling sand. With strength and determination they march forward across the rolling ocean, thunder bellowing from their bowels. Brilliant streaks of light stripe the darkening sky. Now, the sounds of laughter and amusement have died away and the beach is clearing. A blast of balmy air threatens to snap away your towel and you hasten your pace. Anxious, you pull your brood closer and scurry indoors. The unwavering wind roars as the angry downpour concludes the day. A child giggles and a cartoon blares. Wrapped in your downy robe, you absorb the pleasure of a lovely day.

Strong and mighty, the wind determines our view.

The dried cracked leaves dance in uplifted loops across the walk. The treetops in the distance bend. You hear the soft movement of a light wind as it passes and, with a slight shiver, pull your sweater closer to your neck. The soft ginger sun dips behind the mountain, leaving an amber glow on the clouds. Your senses rest in the cozy numbness of an autumn evening.

The wind, unseen but always moving, stimulates unanticipated reactions.

You hear the loud crack as the limb surrenders its position and falls. A blustering gust shakes your window and a chill arises from within. Even the security of shelter cannot repel the primal awareness of the harshness of the storm. A chilly draft sneaks under the door and you snuggle closer to the warmth of the snapping fire, tucking the blanket under your toes. Relaxing in the safety of your nest, you breathe in the peace of a snowy night.

Frightening and fierce, the wind brings recognition of our refuge.

A breeze blows across your shoulders, cooling your damp skin after a brisk walk. A pleasant sensation and a welcome relief from the heat of your body, you feel a smile creep to your lips. The light wind works its way past you, through the valley and up the mountainside and joins a larger current as it moves onward. You wait, hoping for another gentle stirring. It comes without delay and you are soothed.

The wind………
Is your friend.
(Ha Ha, gotcha. You thought I would end with something sappy. Nope, it’s something ridiculous.)

In honor of my heritage -

As a true McCullar, I must put forth a grand array of ye old Irish sayings in anticipation of the approaching celebration:

* May the Lord keep you in His hand and never close His fist too tight.

* May the roof above us never fall in, and may we friends gathered below never fall out.

* May the best day of your past be the worst day of your future.

* Here's to Eve the mother of us all, And here's to Adam who was Johnny on the spot when the leaf began to fall.

* May your troubles be as few and as far apart as my Grandmothers teeth.

* May the wind at your back always be your own.

* As you slide down the banisters of life may the splinters never point the wrong way.

* Don't give cherries to pigs or advice to fools.

* Two good things: a young man courting, an old man smoking. Two bad things: an old man courting, a young man smoking.

AND MY FAVORITE----

* Beautiful young people are acts of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art.

(Thanks to my oldest for supplying these stunning photos which he left on my camera without my knowledge. :)

Note: Please feel free to submit your own Irish wit or wisdom for consideration.

Happy Birthday NiNi!

A friend of NiNi's stated on facbook that the reason she likes Neen is because she is full of joy. Isn't that the best way to describe a person that is happy all the time and never without a smile. She is so sweet and kind, a true pleasure to be around. A very compassionate soul with a pure heart, she strives to follow God's will in her life and looks forward to the plans He has laid out ahead for her. We are so proud of the beautiful young woman she has become and we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her.

We wish you a very happy birthday today, Neen! God bless you, guide you and protect you, today and always. This will be a great year for you, I know it!!!!
