The dark clouds gather, as if to protest the pleasure of the warming rays and sparkling sand. With strength and determination they march forward across the rolling ocean, thunder bellowing from their bowels. Brilliant streaks of light stripe the darkening sky. Now, the sounds of laughter and amusement have died away and the beach is clearing. A blast of balmy air threatens to snap away your towel and you hasten your pace. Anxious, you pull your brood closer and scurry indoors. The unwavering wind roars as the angry downpour concludes the day. A child giggles and a cartoon blares. Wrapped in your downy robe, you absorb the pleasure of a lovely day.
Strong and mighty, the wind determines our view.

The dried cracked leaves dance in uplifted loops across the walk. The treetops in the distance bend. You hear the soft movement of a light wind as it passes and, with a slight shiver, pull your sweater closer to your neck. The soft ginger sun dips behind the mountain, leaving an amber glow on the clouds. Your senses rest in the cozy numbness of an autumn evening.
The wind, unseen but always moving, stimulates unanticipated reactions.

You hear the loud crack as the limb surrenders its position and falls. A blustering gust shakes your window and a chill arises from within. Even the security of shelter cannot repel the primal awareness of the harshness of the storm. A chilly draft sneaks under the door and you snuggle closer to the warmth of the snapping fire, tucking the blanket under your toes. Relaxing in the safety of your nest, you breathe in the peace of a snowy night.
Frightening and fierce, the wind brings recognition of our refuge.

A breeze blows across your shoulders, cooling your damp skin after a brisk walk. A pleasant sensation and a welcome relief from the heat of your body, you feel a smile creep to your lips. The light wind works its way past you, through the valley and up the mountainside and joins a larger current as it moves onward. You wait, hoping for another gentle stirring. It comes without delay and you are soothed.
The wind………
Is your friend.
(Ha Ha, gotcha. You thought I would end with something sappy. Nope, it’s something ridiculous.)
